Learn the basics of goldwork embroidery with this beautiful moth, using gilt, silver and copper metal threads. Applying silk fabric and felt padding for dimension, you will employ pearl purl, bright check, smooth purl and Japanese threads with such techniques as couching and chip work to create this lyrical design.
Our prickly yet striking thistle is back by popular demand. Heavy filling stitches of laid work, long and short, turkey rug stitch, rows of stem stitch, chain stitch and bullion knots give weight to this lovely design in rich purple and teal Appleton wool, on beautiful linen twill.
This delicate peony has been embroidered using small counted, geometric patterns in different weights of thread to create subtle shading. Other stitches include stem stitch, chain stitch and free stitching to outline and complete the design.
Stumpwork Rose and Friends!
The raised work in this happy design is created using different stumpwork techniques, such as padding, textured stitches, wired elements and gold wire. Stitches include long and short, buttonhole, needlelace, woven picots, raised stem band and bullion knots.
