What You’ll Learn
This two-day class is all about experimenting with thread. A “doodle cloth” is a piece of fabric where you practice your stitching. The goal of this class is to create an interesting and experimental doodle cloth that will help to inspire your stitching in the future. We will begin the class by creating an abstract wash with watercolor paints on fabric. This background will serve as a stimulating backdrop for the stitching you create.
Stitches/Techniques: Popular embroidery stitches such as chain stitch, buttonhole, bullion knots, french knots, couching, woven picots, and eyelets. We will discuss ways in which these stitches can be altered to create unique effects.
